Lakme Absolute White Intense Wet & Dry Compact Golden Medium Review & Swatches:

I hardly apply foundation as I feel my skin cannot breath under it. I feel more comfortable using compacts rather. Today, I am going to review Lakme Absolute White Intense Wet & Dry Compact in Golden Brown shade.

Product Description: Look naturally fair and flawless for up to 16 hours with this dual long-wear compact with soft focus effect. Hyaluronic acid deeply hydrates your skin restoring its natural youth and glow. Vitamin B 3 makes you look visibly fairer. SPF 17 UVA/UVB.

Price & Quantity: Rs. 650 for 9g.

Shade: Golden Medium.

Usage Direction: Use it dry as a compact and wet as a foundation.

Shelf Life: 24 months.

My Experience with Lakme Absolute White Intense Wet & Dry Compact Golden Medium:

Packaging: I would say, Lakme has done a commendable job creating this absolute range which is very chic and fashionable in appearance. It has a pouch also and the compact is quite handy. It has inbuilt mirror in it as well as a sponge applicator in it. The applicator has separate storage for it under the compact which is something very useful. The sponge is super soft and easy to apply both wet and dry way. Overall, the packaging is quite nice.

Texture: The powder is very soft and satiny to feel. It does look chalky if applied too much and creates ugly white cast. Using this compact as wet one is much better idea but then also it needs a right amount of time and hard work to blend well into the skin. So, honestly, I think there is something wrong with the texture which makes it hard to apply nicely and effortlessly. It also has a lovely glowing finish to it, which makes my skin look glowing or fair (as Lakme describes)!

Shade: This shade is quite appropriate for MAC shade NC 40-42, I am right between these shades and it suits me well (if blended properly). Shade is named as 'Golden Medium', and which is correctly done as it has yellow or golden base with beige shade. Unfortunately, my skin is also yellow-based; and I was so stupid to buy this! I need to tone down my complexion with lightly pinkish or and brownish shade when it comes about foundation or compact. But then again, I don't remember Lakme Absolute has any shade in pinkish tone! Still, I do use it mostly as my compact; foundation becomes too much 'jaundice' for me!

Staying Power: Lakme claims that this product has 16 hrs of staying power, and I don't agree with that! It does stay well in cooler days when I am not sweating like piggies! But, the sweating or heat makes it worse as the product starts melting or shifting and I feel really uncomfortable. Touching up then only saves my reputation (if there is any!), although I am a big hater of touching-up, and when I do, I don't care if I am walking down the street or in a hospital waiting room or anywhere under the sun (like a boss!). So, I guess the staying power is not that bad after-all.

My Take: I quite like this product as it is affordable and serves accordingly only. It is a great compact and foundation too (if chosen right shade). It gives a glowing yet matte finish to the skin making it look like naturally glowing skin. This particular shade is very much suitable for Indian medium to wheatish skin tone or MAC NC 40-42.

The Good Points:
  1. Gives glow to the skin.
  2. Matte finish.
  3. Controls oil.
  4. Wet & dry combo.
  5. Inbuilt mirror and sponge applicator provided.
  6. Chic and fashionable packaging.
  7. Affordable price.
  8. Easily available online and in stores.
  9. Super smooth and soft texture.

The Not-so-Good Points:

  1. Hard to blend seamlessly.
  2. Staying power is not up to its claim.
  3. Does not survive sweating in hot days.

Rating: 4.2/5.

My Recommendation: I would definitely recommend this product to all of you as most Indians has NC 40-42 skin tone which is a perfect match for this. But, one suggestion, this can be a very good casual or daily compact, I would not recommend this for special occasions or photo shoots. Also, one need to start applying it in small amounts, as too much of this product can make you look chalky or create white cast. Otherwise, I have loved the natural glow finish and also quite preferable staying power (since its monsoon).
