Dove Elixir Hibiscus & Argan Hair Oil Review:

I had a rough experience with my hair 3 years back, and after that I hardly dare to experiment on my hair. But as I could get a hold of this problem and I feel much comfortable now. Anyways, Dove launched their Elixir range of hair oil long time back, and now I got my courage to try it!

For the past few months, MABH Fast Growth Hair Oil is my favorite hair oil but since it is bit thicker than usual hair oil, I needed light hair oil for my hair. So, I opted for Dove Elixir Hibiscus & Argan Hair Oil. Now let us see how it has been for me.

Product Description: Elixir is a luminous blend of precious oils by Dove. Infused with real ingredients, it nourishes hair from root to tip.

This potent blend of oils has the power of overnight oiling in 30 minutes.
Dove Elixir Nourished Shine is enriched with Argan Oil to retain moisture in each hair fiber every time you oil your hair. Blended with Hibiscus, it lends your hair a luminous and reflective shine shield. It absorbs instantly to help rejuvenate damaged hair caused by heat, styling & environmental damage.

My Experience with Dove Elixir Hibiscus & Argan Hair Oil:

Packaging: The first thing I notice in this hair oil is its glass bottle which can be a challenge for a messy girl like me! And the second thing is its beautiful dried flower petals inside the oil floating here and there, I could play and watch the petals for hours (kidding, I get bored after 10 minutes! :P). It has a spray dispenser system which is quite hygienic and useful. The packaging is sure very attractive but its glass container!!

Texture & Smell: The hair oil is light in consistency. It is nowhere near thick or sticky type. Applying this oil in my hair seems the easiest job, as it gets instantly absorbed. It has little amber tint in it, and it smells very nice. It is perfumed and my mom gets annoyed with it. She says, perfumed hair oil is for no good, it’s only fancy!

My Take: I have been using this hair oil for the past month. As, MABH hair oil is my ‘before shampoo’ hair oil, I use this light hair oil as my daily nourishing purpose. And, it serves me the perfect result. I use this hair oil 2-3 times a week and since its very light; my hair does not feel sticky at all.

It makes my hair soft and manageable, and after washing, it seems like I have used only some serum in my shampooed hair which is just that perfect look I want for me. And, going out like with this look is definitely a better option for me. As shampooed hair makes me sick in this hottest weather with the Sun sucking the life out of me; a little bit of oil in my hair keeps my head cool (I don’t know if that sounds crazy, but it is true!).
It does nourish and soften my hair texture, but sadly I do not see any deep conditioning or over-night treatment with this hair oil. After two washes, the oil seems ‘barely there’ and I am back to square one. It does not contribute in growing my hair faster or any vast changes in my hair. I would say, this is just light ‘serum like’ hair oil that can be used for instant nourishing or softening hair texture, you cannot expect more than that.

The Good Points:
  1. Softens hair.
  2. Very light, non-sticky hair oil.
  3. Nourishes hair.
  4. Can be used daily for elongated nourishment.
  5. Beautiful packaging.
  6. Lovely smell.
  7. Affordable.
  8. Easily available.
  9. Hygienic packaging.

The Not-so-Good Points:
  1. No long-lasting effect.
  2. Less of hair oil, more like serum.
  3. Glass container.

My Rating: 3/5.

My Recommendation: If you are in search of light hair oil that you can use and still go out, this hair oil is your answer. It nourishes and softens hair (temporarily), and keeps hair manageable without making it look oily or sticky. But for repairing damage or deep conditioning, you need a different hair oil.
