The Body Shop Born Lippy Lychee Shimmer Lip Balm Review & Swatches:

Recently I have become a fan of the international cruelty free brand, The Body Shop. I have started using some of its products and loving it. Today I am going to review The Body Shop Born Lippy Lychee Shimmer Lip Balm.

Price & Quantity: Rs. 395 for 5 g.

My Experience with The Body Shop Born Lippy Lychee Shimmer Lip Balm:

Packaging: The Body Shop Born Lippy Lychee Shimmer Lip Balm comes in a lovely white and baby pink packaging. It is a twist up pen and hence very hygienic. It is though small, yet bit thick (I love Baby Lips!!).

Texture: This lip balm is a transparent lip balm with loads and loads of shimmers! Yes, Shimmers! I have been a complete fool while buying this, even though the name of this lip balm only says, ‘Lychee Shimmer Lip Balm’, I totally ignored it! And I hate shimmers even in my lipstick; now imagine it is a lip balm! Who on earth wants shimmers in lip balms?
Anyways, it gives a silvery look to my lips due to the shimmers. It is quite thick and creamy in texture, but not waxy or sticky.

My Take: I have absolutely loved The Body Shop products and feel they are actually effective. My heart was partly broken when I first came to know about the shimmers, but there is no compromise at all in the quality of the product. It gives total moisture and nourishment to my lips. The staying power is very good, almost 7-8 hours. It never leaves my lips dry or chapped.
Even after eating, the creamy and thick lip balm stays on my lips with enough moisture. About the smell, I would say it is not that good or bad either. Though it has a bit of fruity fragrance in it.

The Good Points:
  • Creamy and thick texture.
  • Smells fruity.
  • Moisturizes lips for longest time.
  • Staying power is very good.
  • Does not let lips dry out or get chapped.
  • Survives eating.
  • Not sticky or waxy.

The Not-so-Good Points:
  • Loads of shimmers.
  • Tingles a little bit after application(sensitive skin).
  • Bit pricey for a lip balm.
  • No SPF.

My Rating: 3/5 (mostly because of the shimmers, but as a lip balm, it is not that bad).

Overall Verdict: If you are okay with the shimmer, then definitely go for it. I have used Maybelline Baby Lips and loved it also. But this lip balm is I would say even longer lasting, hardly needs reapplication. For extra dry lips, this would turn out really helpful. Again, if you can avoid the shimmers, you can actually like this.
