Soulflower Cold-pressed Castor Oil Review:

It has been more than a year or so since I have started my hair care routine with different hair oils to fight several problems. And castor oil was one of the most essential oil for a healthy hair care regime. Today, I will be reviewing Soulflower Cold-pressed Castor Oil.

Product Description:
Hair growth simulator and controls hair loss. Adds shine to hair and prevents split ends. Perfect emollient for face and lips Treats cracked heels and nails.

Price & Quantity: Rs. 250 for 200 ml.

Ingredients: 100% pure, natural oil obtained by pressing the seeds of the Ricinus communis (castor)plant, rich in Vitamin E, essential fatty acid, minerals and protiens.

Shelf Life: 2 years.

My Experience with Soulflower Cold-pressed Castor Oil:

Packaging: Soulflower Cold-pressed Castor Oil comes in a medium size flat
bottle which is quite sturdy. It has a flip cap at the top which is not at all strong, and after using for a couple of times, I broke one side of it!

Texture & Smell: Generally castor oils are very thick and sticky. This castor oil is slightly less thick than other I have used. I have used Aromamagic Castor Oil before it and found this one less sticky and thick than that.
It does not have an unpleasant or irritating smell but not also a good one. The smell is tolerable and very mild.

My Take: I am very particular about every hair care product I use. I always check and test first if they are really useful and genuine. So, all I know was castor oil promotes hair growth and previously whichever castor oil I have used they all did it promptly.
So, to test if it is really genuine, I apply the castor oil daily on my eye brows for at least 3-4 days. And if I see more than usual growth there, I feel relieved and keep continuing the castor oil in my scalp.

When I applied Soulflower Cold-pressed Castor Oil on my eye brows, I saw very slow growth on my eye brows. To be clear, I was not happy with this growth rate.

I use this oil mixed with olive oil and almond oil once in 1 or 2 weeks, keep it over night and wash with herbal shampoo. The result has been not so marvelous or neither horrible too. But I expected rapid effects from it.
It does promote hair growth and invigorates new hair on the scalp. It also make my hair super soft after washing it off and little bit of shine too!

I have also used this oil occasionally on my chapped lips and it works like wonder. It does not taste or smell that bad, also it is less sticky, and I loved how it made my lips soft and cured my chapped lips in 15 minutes!

The Good Points:
  • Less thick and sticky.
  • Cures chapped lips.
  • Makes hair soft and smooth.
  • Absorbs well in the scalp.
  • Does not smell bad or intolerable.
  • Affordable.
  • Natural.

The Not-so-Good Points:
  • Availability. (Easily available Online, hard to find in shops)
  • Works bit slow, not rapidly.

My Rating: 3/5.

My Recommendation: I would not recommend this castor oil as I have had better experience with other brands like Aloe Veda or Aromamagic. So, if you want a fast working castor oil for your hair growth, skip this. But if you want  lustrous and super smooth hair, you can try this.
