The Body Shop Rainforest Coconut Hair Oil Review:

‘Yuck, coconut oil, chipku!, I know many of us feels it till now; the primal reason is continuous use of sticky coconut oil in our childhood days. In my opinion, when we were kids neither we or our mothers had ever tried to cut off the tradition that coconut oil is the only best hair oil. But then we grew up and tried many other hair oils, some with pretty smell, some ayurvedic with weird smell; and never again went back to coconut oil. This was me even a few months back, but when The Body Shop presented its Rainforest Coconut Oil, and the appraisal reviews of happy consumers came, I found myself in dilemma.

There was no doubt that The Body Shop is one of the quality and organic brand, and that only prompted me to try this oil. So, last month when I went to Delhi I picked it up from The Body Shop counter. I wanted to check it first then buy, that is why I opted for buying in person rather than order it online. Okay now, let us move on to the details of this product.

Product Description: With regular use this luxurious, nourishing oil leaves hair feeling stronger, smooth and softer without dying out the scalp. Enriched with organic pracaxi oil and Community Fair Trade organic virgin coconut oil. 99% ingredients of natural origin. If desired, warm in hands before use. Do not heat up the product. If product gets in eyes, rinse with clean water.

Price and Quantity: INR 645 for 200ml.
Shelf Life: 2 and half years.

The Body Shop Rainforest Coconut Hair Oil Review:

Packaging: This hair oil comes in a transparent plastic bottle with a flip top cap. The bottle is very sturdy and totally hygienic. It is also perfectly leak-proof to travel with.
Texture and Smell: The Body Shop Coconut Hair Oil is a quite thick oil but not sticky though. The consistency is little bit less thick than castor oil, so it can be used alone or even mixed with almond or amla oil if one finds it very thick for regular use.
But the best part is the smell, it smells pretty decent and not over powering (nothing like the other coconut oils in the market). It is also not sticky, it absorbs really well and fast.
My Experience: Well, I am a regular hair oil user; I apply hair oil every other day to keep them nourished. My regular hair oil was almond oil, which is very light and nourishing, but after using this oil, I replaced my almond oil with it. Though this oil is thick but the good point is that because of its consistency, only a small amount of this oil is enough for my BSL (bra strap length) hair. See the pictures, I am using this oil for more than three weeks now almost 3-4 days in a week and it is still full.

The oil is nourishing, my hair feels really soft and nourished after using this oil. And, after washing with plain water, my hair feels perfectly oil-balanced (not sticky/champu). It controlled my hair-fall to a certain level in the first week, but then again the simultaneous weather change is bringing this to halt.
The Good Points of The Body Shop Coconut Hair Oil:
  • Chemical, silicon-free organic hair oil.
  • Non-sticky.
  • Nourishing hair oil for regular use.
  • Smells very nice.
  • Sturdy packaging.
  • Travel friendly.
  • One bottle will last more than 4-5 months.

The Not-so-Good Points of The Body Shop Coconut Hair Oil:
  • There are actually none, honestly!

My Rating: 5/5.

Do I Recommend The Body Shop Coconut Hair Oil?

Would I Repurchase The Body Shop Coconut Hair Oil?
